Simeon McIntier (McIntire, McIntyre) was the first of four children (Simon, Hannah, Patsy, Armenia) born to Amasa McIntier and Sarah Edwards in Johnstown, Leeds Co, Ontario.

He married on Aug. 12, 1822 in Hammond, St. Lawrence Co, NY Isabel (Isabella) Nicol daughter of William May Nicol II and Agness Bronlee from Gilhead, Scotland. His wife emigrated from Gillhead Farm, Carluke, South Lanarkshire, Scotland to Hammond, NY.

Following the birth of their eight children, they converted to Mormanism when a small group of LDS missionaries first came to Hammond, NY. Simeon and Isabel and their children made the trek to Utah along with William Austin, Agnes Nancy Nicol Austin, Lucinda, child of Olive Lee (raised by Agnes Nicol and William Austin).

On his way to Utah, Simeon left his family. In a letter to Isabella's brother, David Nicol, she tells that Simeon left the family and no one knew where he went. In another version it states he was called up to fight in the Mexican-American War. He endured many hardships and even fought as far as California, but I have not found him yet as a soldier in that war.

Meanwhile Isabella thought her husband was gone for good so in June 15, 1846, Hammond, St. Lawrence County, NY . She married William Austin, born 1800 and died 1887. He was already married to Agnes Nicol her aunt.

Simeon returned home, but never married again. His former wife, Isabella (Isabel) Nicol Austin, died of Rocky Mountain fever near Echo Canyon, Summit County, Utah on Sept. 27, 1852 and is buried somewhere near there.
