Lillie Satterly Snellen, 88, Samuels, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007 at Loretto Mother House in Nerinx. She was born March 31, 1919 in Bullitt County. She was a distillery worker for Jim Beam and a member of AARP, St. Gregory's Homemakers, the Altar Society of St. Gregory and St. Gregory Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Snellen; parents, Liza and Arnold Satterly; four brothers, Clifton Satterly, John Satterly, Edward Satterly and Sidney Satterly; a sister, Thelma Biven; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren. Survivors include six daughters, Martha Reed and Bernice Simms, both of Cox's Creek,Thelma Masterson and Jean Valley, both of Bardstown, Carolyn Schumacher, Louisville, Darlene Holt, Harrodsburg; six sons, Joe Satterly, Willard Snellen, Billy Snellen, John "Buck" Snellen, Tim Snellen and Richard Snellen all of Bardstown; 30 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 2 pm Sunday at St. Gregory Catholic Church, with burial in St. Gregory Cemetery. The Rev. John Schwartzlose will officiate. Memorial contributions may go to Masses at St. Gregory Catholic Church. Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
