Married on 4/1/1875 to Pauline Reitz, sister of John H. Reitz, also a musician of the 30th Virginia Infantry. John, his wife and her brother are buried in the same Lot.

Residence: Fredericksburg, VA.; 17 years old.
Conscripted, he reported to Camp Lee, Richmond, where on 5/28/1864, he was mustered into Regimental Band of 30th Virginia Infantry as a Private.
He was Surrendered on 4/9/1865 at Appomattox Court House, VA.

Died of tuberculosis.
On 8/16/1930, his widow, living with her sister in Richmond, applied for a Confederate Widow's Pension. She was approved for $10 monthly.

The 30th Infantry Regiment completed its organization at Fredericksburg, Virginia, in June, 1861. Men of this unit were from Fredericksburg and the counties of Spotsylvania, Caroline, Stafford, and King George.
