Phylura was born to Miller Harding and his wife, Elizabeth Taber in New York State. The family moved to Martin Co. Indiana and she married Sam Gerkin, had four children. When he died she married Evan Calvin Waldrip. In her later years,she married John White on Nov.2,1871 in Putnam Co., Indiana. Phylura and her mother, Elizabeth, were direct descendants of Captain Francis Cooke, one of the passengers on the maiden voyage of the Mayflower.
