Son of Silas Hopkins b1796 Glen Cove, NY. Grandson of William M. Hopkins and Elizabeth Downing Hopkins 1760-1850. The Hopkins family owned a farm on Cedar Swamp Road just outside Glen Cove, NY for several generations. The farm was sold to William Hall in 1867 and is now part of a residential area known as High Farms. The Hopkins descend from a line which connects to RI Gov. Stephen Hopkins 1707-1785, signer of the Declaration of Independence.
