LADOGA Charles E. Priebe, 77, of Ladoga died at 12:15 a.m. Saturday at his residence.

He retired in 1986 after 40 years of teaching in Montgomery and Parke County schools. He had last been a principal at Ladoga schools and a teacher and principal at Southmont High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie (Weaver) Priebe of Ladoga; two sons, Ed Priebe of Crawfordsville and Dan Priebe of Mitchell; two daughters, Jean Garrett of Muncie and Debra Kay Priebe of Ladoga; two brothers, Junior Priebe and Donald Priebe, both of Crawfordsville; four sisters, Margaret Andrews of Denver, Colo., Mary Gooding of Waveland, Martha Greve of Greensburg and Marjorie Younkin of Butte, Mont.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Freedom Baptist Church near Waveland. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery in Waveland, with graveside military rites accorded by the Crawfordsville VFW and American Legion posts. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home located at 315 S. Washington Street in Crawfordsville.

"On December 19, 1986, Charles Priebe entered Southmont Jr. and Sr. High School for the last time as a member of the faculty. He retired after forty-one years of service to education.

He began his career in 1955 in Green Township where he taught government before moving to Ladoga. He served as principal and teacher there for 16 yrs. After Southmont was built in 1972, he accepted the job as assistant principal. In 1973 he became principal and served in that position until 1977.

Finally in 1978 he began teaching junior high social studies until his retirement in 1986.

Mr. Priebe we salute you for your dedication and many years of service."
