Darlene Ohlbrecht, 82 of Sidney and a lifelong Cheyenne County resident died September 10, 2006 at her home in Sidney.Graveside services will be held September 15, 2006 in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney.Darlene Marie Ohlbrecht, the daughter Harry and Anna(Bruns)Thompson, who homesteaded in the Weyerts Community east of Gurley, was born June 13, 1924 at Lodgepole, Nebraska. She grew up in the Weyerts Community on a farm north of the church. She attended rural school in the area. On January 6, 1950 she was united in marriage to Olin Carl Ohlbrecht at Scottsbluff, Nebraska. They made their home in Sidney. Darlene worked at the Green Lantern Café with her sister Florence and later at the Silver Dollar.
Survivors include two sons: Rick and wife Elaine Ohlbrecht of Colorado Springs, CO and Tim and wife Liz Ohlbrecht of Pembroke Pines, FL; two grandchildren, Tyler and Brody Ohlbrecht both of Colorado Springs, CO; and one sister, Doris and husband Ernie Davison of Hemet, CA.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers: Glen and Jake Thompson; two sisters: Luella Bartling and Florence Krauter; one son Randy and one grandson Reed.
