Esther Harriet and twin sister, Ellen Laura born in 1853 are the daughters of Ephraim W. and Mary M. [Strickler] Kelso. They are listed in 1860 and 1870 census with Jonathan and Susanna [Lichty] Kelso family but they are listed at the end of the family. Mary seems to be listed as the oldest Kelso child even though she is younger by six years than Esther and Ellen. (Ephraim and Jonathan are brothers and sons of James and Susannah [Hardman] Kelso). Mary Strickler Kelso appears to have married Alexander D. Provance and Ephraim W. went to Montgomery Co., OH where he remarried to Mary E. Brelsford on 24 Apr 1862 and they had a family in Dayton area.

I have a copy of page 468 from the book, A Brief History of John and Christrian Fretz and this lists: Mary Strickler d/o John and Barbara [Fretz] born Fayette Co., PA 1830 md. Alexander D. Provance. A Carpenter. Children: Ellen, Hattie, Anna. Hattie Provance b. 27 Jan 1853. md. Rev Jesse L. Beal, of Waterloo, IA in 1889. Farmer and minister of the German Baptist Church. Hattie had one child: Irwin J. K. Wright, b. 28 Mar 1875. Ellen md. Peter Liningood sic[Livingood] and Anna md. Herbert Rages. (I found Ellen and Peter in the 1880 and 1900 census but have not found Anna and Herbert). Ephraim and Jonathan Kelso's sister Rebecca married a David Hartley Provance and they had a son Alex b. 1851, so he would be a nephew of Ephraim Kelso the father of Harriet and Ellen. In the 1910 census of Springhill Alex appears to be a much younger husband to Mary Strickler Kelso.

I have not located Esther Harriet married to James Wright in 1880. However, Irvin is listed in 1900 with Jesse and Harriet in IA. I located he and family in the 1910 Cedar Falls, IA census and again in 1920, 1930 and 1940 Tulsa, OK census. (father's name of James comes from Irvin's SS application)

A note hand written in the Butterfield/Beal items I received from my grandfather, Glade Butterfield include the following: Mrs. Harriet -Jesse Beal died Jan 15, 1927 /Buried at Elklick, PA beside her twin sister.
