CHARLES JESSUP DIED SATURDAY
Death Occurs at Home of His Daughter Near Macksburg
Charles Ellsworth Jessup, aged Madison county resident, died Saturday, May 6th after an extended illness, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bertha Evans, who lives near Macksburg. He was a son of Isaac and Matilda Brinson Jessup, who came to Madison county in 1851; he was born in this county April 18, 1862.
Here he grew to manhood and was married to Ora Luella Owen, on Feb. 18, 1885. They were the parents of nine children, four of whom, Bessie, Edgar, Opal and Bell have preceded him in death. Mrs. Jessup died July 26, 1917.
On September 9, 1919, Mr. Jessup married Grace Elwell Blasedale, and she died 20 years later, April 16, 1939. For many years the Jessups lived in Lincoln township.
Mr. Jessup is survived by five children, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Pearl Moe of Evansville, Wisc., Mrs. Hazel Crow of Los Angeles, Alvin Jessup of Baxter, and Mrs. Neta Staples of Brookfield, Mo. He also leaves 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and one brother, George Jessup of Creston.
Elder Burton L. Nay of Cedar Falls conducted his funeral services at the Anderson home for funerals in Winterset, Tuesday, May 9 at two o'clock and burial was made in the Primitive Baptist cemetery northeast of Winterset.
