He and his wife's step-father, Virgil Bebb, were honored in a double funeral and buried near each other. They were 2 of the 91 miners who perished in the Sunshine Mine Disaster, the deadliest event in Idaho history.

A memorial statue stands over twelve feet tall at exit 54 of I-90, at the base of the Big Creek Canyon, between the towns of Kellogg and Osburn, Idaho.
