husband of Barbara "Babs" (O'Hare) married 26 June 1946 near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and son of Mary Belle (McLaughlin) and D Roy Stoner. Mr. Stoner was a graduate of Waynesboro Area High School with the Class of 1933. They moved to the present residence in 1948. Mrs. Stoner died February 22, 1996. In 1935, Mr. Stoner began his employment with Landis Machine Company, Waynesboro, on a sales and service course. After training, he spent eight years in the New York-Philadelphia territory, before returning to Waynesboro in 1943, where he joined the sales department. He retired June 22, 1984 after 49 years of service, retiring as Vice President of Sales. He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro. In his youth, he taught Sunday school classes, was active in the Luther League and sang in the church choir. In later years, he served on church council and was a member of the ushers club. He also attended his late wife's church, St. Ann's Catholic Church, Hagerstown, MD. Mr. Stoner was a member and past director of the Waynesboro YMCA board, serving as President for a five year period. He also was a member of the YMCA Heritage Club. He co-founded and was co-chairman of the American Red Cross Blood Mobile and then was chairman of the Blood Mobile for a number of years. He was past District Commissioner of the Boy Scouts and NMTB representative of the B-I thread standard committee. He was also was a member of Waynesboro Rotary Club, Waynesboro Historical Society, Friends of Renfrew, B.P.O. Elks Lodge #731, South Chapter AARP #2977 and Waynesboro Country Club. A loving and devoted father and grandfather, our Dad and Paw Paw will be lovingly missed by his daughter, Christina S. McCleary (husband Irvin) of Lancaster, PA; granddaughter, Kate McCleary of St. Paul, MN; grandson, Sean McCleary of Bozeman, MT; two sisters, Mary Catherine Shinham and Muriel Benjamin, both of Waynesboro. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur Stoner, Donald Stoner and Merle Stoner.
