Elmo Fleming Pierce, 75, of Edmond, OK, died peacefully Monday, February 21, 2011, at his home. He was born December 15, 1935 to Eugene F. and Carol Porter Pierce in Freedom, OK. Elmo graduated from the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in 1956 and was appointed Home Missionary to the Deaf by the Assemblies of God in 1962. Elmo pastored churches for the Deaf until 1979 and then utilized his God-given talent of remodeling and rebuilding homes for many years. Elmo is survived by his wife, Zelma of Edmond; his children, Beth Pierce of Edmond, Evan Pierce of Niagara Falls, NY; his sisters, Patsy and Leon Tinsley of Ocheleta, OK, Virginia Stroud of Oklahoma City; his grandchildren, Dylan McClure of Richardson, TX, Samantha Vicknair of Edmond; one aunt and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Elmo is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene F. and Carol P. Pierce; first wife, Helen June Pierce; and twin sister. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 24, 2011, at Spring Creek Assembly of God in Edmond with graveside services at Little Cemetery in Seminole, OK at 4:00 p.m.
