HUSB. OF ALZINA MAXON

Zadoc Dyer Brown was married twice. He was first married to Hannah Maxon (1800 - 1826), and 2nd married Alzina Maxon (1810 - 1876)in 1828, about 2 years after the death of his 1st wife.

Zadoc & Hannah (Maxon) had only 1 child, Hannah Minerva Brown, born in NY in 1826, d. 1891 in Michigan. I suspect that Hannah (Maxon)'s death was childbirth related, but I have no proof of that at this time. It's just a theory. Hannah Minerva Brown married Samuel Cassada.

Zadoc & Alzina (Maxon) had the following children:
1) Rev. Samuel Brown (b. 4-13-1829 NY; d. 10-11-1891 MI)
2) John Brown (b. 1-13-1831, Vernon, NY; d. 7-24-1875; buried in
Annis Cemetery, Albion, NY
3) Ruth Ann (Brown) Allen (1833 - 1888)
4) Elizah Brown (b. 1838 Murray, NY; d. 1905 Kamiah, ID
(he married his cousin Hannah BEEBE)
5) Ira Brown (b. 10-13-1844 Murray, NY; d. 3-13-1898; buried in
Annis Cemetery, Albion, NY
6) Betsy (Brown) Johnson (b. 1-5-1850; d. 10-18-1918)

*UPDATE

**Source for info suspects that Hannah and Alzina were sisters, but has no proof of that at this time. It's just a theory, based on the 2 wives having the same Maiden Name. Another theory is that they might have been cousins.

*I believe I have confirmation that the 2 wives of Zadoc Brown were sisters. Circumstantial at best, but comes from a combination of Public Family trees in Ancestry.com.

The parents of Hannah Davis (Maxon) Brown & Alzina (Maxon) Brown were Samuel Maxson / Maxon (1774 - 1841) & Elizabeth (Austin) Maxson / Maxon, of Orleans County, NY. Samuel's parents were Samuel Maxson (1743 - 1898) & Hannah Davis (1744 - 1828) of Rhode Island.

In addition, Zadoc's brother Sylvester married Elizabeth "Betsey" Maxon, daughter of Samuel, therefore, sister of Hannah & Alzina.

In the document I found on Ancestry.com, "Ancestors of Florence Julia Brown and some of their descendant", Zadoc Brown is stated as having a brother-in-law named Ira Maxon.

In the 1850 U.S. Census, Ira's mother Elizabeth "Betsey" Maxon was living with him. In the 1860 US Federal Census, she was found living with Zadoc's brother Sylvester & his wife Elizabeth "Betsey" Maxon.

I am continuing to look into the Maxon connections, but I am pretty certain at this point that Zadoc married sisters, and his brother Sylvester married a 3rd sister.

Thanks,
Grant Sullivan, 3rd great-nephew of Zadoc and Sylvester Brown
