The son of Homer and Laura Bruce. His wife of 63 years, Ottolie D. Bruce. They had two daughters and one son. General was a lifetime farmer and formerly owned the Hanover Fruit and Vegetable Market in Ashland. He was a member of the Doswell Ruritans and the Ashland Moose Lodge. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Ashland. General Bruce was 87.
