Wallace was the husband of Mary M. Johnson. Son of William and Eliza Waring Bagby.

Quite a dapper and dashing young man, he died young as a result of persisting disentary contracted while serving in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Civil War.

Served: Private in Co. H, 2nd IL, Light Art; Jan. 23, 1862 to Disch. May 17, 1863 Disability; CPL, Co. E, 18th IL INF;
Corporal, Co. A, 137th IL INF; May 13, 1864 to MO Sept 24, 1864 as Sergeant.
