Writer and Doctor of Laws. He was author of an important novelistic production of around 50 works, among which are "Laderas Umbrías", "Como el viento", "Como el viento", "Cristo habló en la montaña", "La batalla de aquel general", "Dentro del río" (Plaza y Janés Award 1962), and "El rostro del escándalo". Among his essays are "Los papas del siglo XX", "Pablo VI, el Papa peregrino", "Asturias, paisaje con figuras" and "Veinte pintoras asturianas", and his last novels "La luz de Tánger" (2000), "Los días y las sombras", "El final de un siglo" (2001), "Ruta de oro caminos de la plata" (2003) and "Sagrada Galicia" (2004). Besides novelist, essayist and literary critic, was one of the founding members of the Writers' Association of Spain and also President of Writers Association in Asturias, as well as director and vice president of the Dolores Medio Foundation, member of the Royal Institute of Asturian Studies and of Asturian Association of Journalists and Writers of Tourism. He was also awarded the Medal of Asturias.
