Katharina was born in Wuppertal.
We knew her for some time already, and loved her for her very competent way and the kindness she showed when caring for my father.
When she did not appear this very morning and the head nurse came along to tell me the bad news, I could not believe it, and for the time being, it all still seems so unreal and so terribly unfair.
Katharina was fatally injured in a very tragic motorbike accident. Katharina's mother, siblings, her loving boyfriend and above all her sweet little daughter Paula, are left behind to mourn a much loved person.
The same applies to the many patients whose lives she has touched.
May she rest in peace.

One note - I did not have the chance to attend to funeral, having to work all day long though my thoughts were with Katharina and above all her family and friends.
A fellow nurse told me that everything was both moving and very positive, as if to celebrate a beautiful life lost too early in the most appropriate way.
The family had asked people not to appear in black clothes, but their ordinary 'street clothes' instead as if to fight the sadness of the day.
In the end of the ceremony, many coloured balloons were sent up in the air as a final greeting to a beautiful much loved and missed young woman.
