Beautiful, loving, unselfish, and compassionate wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend are just a few words to describe Janet – or as she preferred to be called "Jan" Watkins. Jan slipped from her affliction of this world and was taken home by God on May 10, 2016.

Funeral Services and interment will be held on Friday, May 13th at New Hope Memorial Gardens, Sunnyvale, Texas.

She was born on December 24, 1937 in McLennan County, Waco Texas to Monroe William and Wilma (Uptmore) Janke. Janet and Wilma had a special mother/daughter bond beyond compare, their hearts were joined together with God's love.

Jan loved Christmas, enjoyed life, and her family was her greatest love. She was very proud of all of their accomplishments and loved sharing them with anyone who would listen. She was loved by so many people with whom she shared hope and faith during her journey with cancer. With a smile on her face, and an attitude of gratitude, she spread joy everywhere she went and vowed to beat the cancer!

Everyone knew where Jan would be on the first weekend of the month. . . at her beloved Canton Trades Day. She worked various jobs in her life and left a huge impact on everyone she met.

Jan is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Donald Watkins, their son, Donald Mark Watkins and his wife, Becky; daughter Lisa Kraft and her husband, Jimmy; step-children Gene Shawl and his wife Pam and Frances Notinger and her husband Alan; grandchildren Jamie & Courtney Kraft, Jeff & Courtney Kraft, Leslie & Bruce Lemoine, Jennifer & Daniel Soto, Tiffany Shawl, Chris Shawl, and Taylor Farrell; great-grandchildren Ethan Kraft, Landon Watkins, Jenniel Soto, Brianna Soto, Olivia Kraft, and Peyton Soto; brothers Monroe Janke and his wife, Sandy, and Maurice Janke and his wife, Linda, as well as many other family members and friends who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father and step-father. What a joyful reunion she is having with her mother and many others.

Janet Mae Janke Watkins was a walking ray of sunshine.
