Father and grandfather. Jess is remembered as a kind, easy-going person. He married Thelma Underwood Haynes on Dec. 2, 1933. Jess was a cotton farmer. He loved to fish, play the violin, sing, tell stories, read western novels, and play checkers. Jess died from emphysema at age 64. Blessed be his memory.
