Son of JOSEPH & ABIGAIL RHODES BUTTON. Married BETHIA KINNE, daughter of ASA & BETHIA (KIMBALL) KINNE, on 21 March 1770 in Preston, New London, Conn.
From "Rhode Island Land evidences 1648-1669", Vol 1:
In 1776/7 Elisha, a younger brother of Charles Button, came to Rhode Island. He made his home a mile south of the home of Charles which was probably on land claimed by Charles from Mill River on the North to roaring Brook on the south and to Button Hill near Shrewsbury on the east.
Many of the inhabitants who came from Rhode Island were Baptists. There were two Baptist Churches in the town after the first settlement, one in the east part and one in the west part. In 1795 an important meeting of the church was held at the home of Elisha & Abigail Button. On January 10, 1792, Elisha Button petitioned for a lottery to repair the road between Ludlow and Mount Holly.
