Charles V Beltz
Charles Vernon Beltz, 91, of Waterville, formerly of Mowrystown, died Sunday, April 27, 1997, at Heartland of Browning Nursing Home, Waterville.
Born July 18, 1905, in Mowrystown, he was the son of William L. Beltz and Bertha (McQuitty) Beltz.
He graduated from Whiteoak High School and attended Ohio State University.
He served on the Mowrystown City Council, as mayor of Mowrystown, Highland County School Board, Whiteoak Local School Board, Southern Hills Joint Vocational School Board, Highland County Water Company Board, was a director of Farm Bureau, member of Farm Bureau Farm Council, past member of the Whiteoak Valley Grange, a charter member of the Mowrystown-Sardinia Lions Club, 50-year member of Masonic Lodge #254, Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati and past member of the Syrian Shrine.
He was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mowrystown and was president of the Mowrystown Brick and Tile Company. He was also a farmer.
He is preceded in death by his wife M Lucille (Thompson) Beltz.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert D (Mary Lois) Beltz of Waterville and Jack L (Linda) Beltz of Kettering; a daughter Mary Jo Beltz (James) Ashburn of Cincinnati; two brothers, William Beltz of Cincinnati and Marvin Beltz of Mowrystown; a sister Ruth Forsythe of Mowrystown; three grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held at the Edgington Funeral Home, Mowrystown, Thursday, 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert League officiating. Burial will follow in the Mowrystown Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held Wednesday at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Mowrystown Presbyterian Church.
