Orrin F. Curtis (Coach)

Today we mourn the passing of our beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Great-Great-Grandfather. He was a wonderful man and will be missed every day by those who knew him.

Orrin F. Curtis was born August 25, 1921 and passed away peacefully August 7, 2013. He graduated from Utah State University in 1943 with a degree in education and soon began his career teaching in Milford and Draper. He then started teaching at Mt. Jordan Middle School in the Jordan School District, where he remained until his retirement. His stern yet loving teaching style was legendary and decades later, students came to his home to thank him personally for the impact he had on their lives. Orrin was an extremely hard working man and did what was necessary to support his family. During the summer months he worked tirelessly with his dad and his brothers as a brick mason. In his spare time, Orrin loved fishing and hunting (but especially fishing). He always said, "Time spent fishing adds to the length of a person's life." Orrin also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his friends and family. He loved telling stories and jokes, many of which will be passed down by his children and grandchildren.

Orrin married Laura Louise Whitehead on June 29, 1943. They shared a loving bond which lasted more than 6 decades. They were blessed with four children who meant the world to them. Orrin lovingly taught his children about honesty, the value of hard work, the sanctity of your word as your bond, and the meaning of a handshake. He was very giving and willing to help wherever he saw a need.

Orrin is survived by his daughters, Linda Jordan and Nedra (TJ) White. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren (with another one on the way). He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, Kent Orrin and Craig Robert (Doc) Curtis; also by his daughter-in-law Carol Jean Curtis, and three grandchildren, Larry Dee, Lisa Jane and Luann Paula Curtis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2013, at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State, Midvale, UT. A viewing will be held Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary and 1 hour prior to the services. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery. www.goffmortuary.com.
