Rita Mae Addison Iverstine, 92 years old a longtime resident of Hammond, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at North Oaks Medical Center.
She was born on Wednesday, December 10, 1919, in Natalbany.
Mrs. Iverstine was retired from J. C. Penny's. She was always involved in activities not only with her family but many other people in the community. She was a former president of the P.T.A. Mrs. Iverstine loved fishing and hunting with her family and many of the neighborhood kids.
Surviving are her son & daughter-in-law, Russell Charles "Doodle" and Connie Iverstine; granddaughter and special friend, Kristy Shannon Iverstine and Leon Alfano; sister and brother-in-law, Clonnie and David Hess; 2 sisters-in-law, Victoria C. Iverstine and Lilly Addison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Cornelius "Pap" Iverstine; parents, Cleon and Ida Burgess Addison; son & daughter-in-law, Joe C. Iverstine Jr. and Kay Baker Iverstine; daughter, Dorothy Jo (infant); and 6 siblings, Clyde, Norman, Penny, Carl, Margarite, and Estelle.
Friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, Monday, February 13, 2012, from 10:00 am until the funeral service at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Hammond.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Healthcare and North Oaks Medical Center for all their loving care.
