Retired teacher Sharon L. Campbell, 63, died Aug. 19, 1997, while vacationing in Oregon. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel. Mrs. Campbell was born in Mountain Home, Idaho, on Aug. 13, 1934. Her family lived on her maternal grandparents' ranch in Bruneau, Idaho, where she attended a one-room school through fourth grade before her family moved to Boise.She graduated from Boise Junior College with a provisional teaching certificate, eventually completing her degree at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1960. She spent her 33-year teaching career at Boise; Elmendorf Air Force Base; Loveland, Colo.; and Anchorage. She met her husband, Starr, while teaching at Elmendorf. They were married in Loveland, where they lived until moving back to Alaska in 1967. Mrs. Campbell was one of the original teachers at O'Malley Elementary School, from which she retired in 1987. She left a legacy of warmth, gentleness and encouragement with her students, many of whom kept in touch with her through the years. She dearly loved her family, many friends and the family pets, relatives said. Her desire for learning new things was extensive. Among the activities that gave her pleasure were reading, golfing, weaving baskets, wildflowers and bird-watching. Recently she took up the autoharp and joined her husband's weekly music group. Mrs. Campbell is survived by her husband, Starr, of Anchorage; son and daughter-in-law, Shannon and Joan Campbell of Moscow, Idaho; sister, Linda Eastaugh of Anchorage; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sondra Morrow of Asotin, Wash.; granddaughter, Tegan Marie Campbell of Moscow; daughter, April Hammond and her daughters, Mistie, Lynsey, Christina and Elizabeth, of Anchorage; sister-in-law, Jo-Anne Pigott of Choctaw, Okla.; nieces, Jennifer Smith of Silverton, Ore., and Terri Dickson of Spokane, Wash.; nephews, Daniel and Steven Morrow of Seattle; many cousins, including Patricia Symonds and Judith Lethin of Anchorage; and ''adopted'' granddaughter, Melissa. Local services were by Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary and Crematory.
