Thompson Learned Hagler, a Civil War Veteran, was born in Madison County, Illinois, on July 11, 1820, and died June 9, 1893 at Ida Grove, Iowa, Ida County. His parents were Cleveland and Nancy Hagler. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery.

He enlisted in the Civil War in Co. I, 9 Iowa Cavalry.

He was married to Minerva Harrell on Aug. 19, 1843, and they had 5 children, Nancy, Wallace, Jane, Henry, and John W. She passed away, and he married Clara D. Thompson (1836-1896) on Sept. 27, 1860. They had 7 children, Albert, Amos, William L., Clara Ella, Anna, Fanny, Mary Belle.

Funeral Services were conducted by the G.A.R., Matthew Gray Post #93, and the sermon was preached by Rev. Trimble of Odebolt, Iowa.
