Anna Luella Russell, 91, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Morningstar Care Homes of Neodesha, Kansas. A Celebration of Anna's life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Independence, Kansas on Wednesday, March 20th at 10:00am. Ann was born in Altoona, Kansas on March 5, 1928 to John and Agnes Woodruff. Ann taught school in a one room school in Wilson County in the late 1940's. While teaching, Ann attended Pittsburg State Teachers College during the summer to keep her teaching license active. She married Dale Russell in Altoona, Kansas on May 28, 1950 at the Presbyterian Church in Altoona, Kansas. On, August 4, 1958, Dale and Ann adopted Dala Ann and Tammy Jo. Ann lived in Neodesha for 15 years before moving to Wichita, Kansas in 1966 for Dale's employment. Ann worked for Henry's and Hinkle's Clothing Stores as a retail clerk for many years. In 1980, she retired and spent her time caring for her 3 grandsons, Randy, Chris and Nick Jamis. This was her favorite job. Ann was an active member in the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas and First United Methodist Church in Independence, Kansas for many years. After Dale's retirement, Ann loved to travel, go camping, sewing, making quilts, cooking and most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dala Russell, parents, John and Agnes Woodruff, sisters, Mabel Williams, Marjorie Hallbauer and brother, Joe Woodruff.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Russell of Neodesha Kansas, daughter, Tammy Russell of Wichita Kansas, sisters, Mamie Erbe and Irma Violet both of Neodesha Kansas, brother, Johnny Woodruff of Las Vegas Nevada, (6) six grandsons, (23) twenty-three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
