Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Loran Fawcett Chapel with the Reverend Les Griffith, pastor of the First Church of God, officiating.
Friends may call to register at the funeral home on Friday, April 29th from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Neodesha Cemetery.
The family has suggested memorials to Hospice Care of Kansas and memorials can be left at the funeral home.
Norma Jean Hare was born in Caney, Kansas on April 21, 1938 to Charles Goodknight and Alvenia (Shippy) Goodknight. She was raised by her mother and her stepfather, John Greer. She attended and graduated from Neodesha High School in 1956. Jean was a member of the Neodesha United Methodist Church, The Debra Circle and the Wilson Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary.
Norma Jean married Melvin Hare on July 20, 1955 in Nowata, Oklahoma and he survives at the home.
Additional survivors include; one daughter, Connie (Hare) Burkhead of Neodesha, KS; one son, John Hare of Fayetteville, NC; one brother, Charles A. Goodknight of Independence, KS; three grandchildren, Fred Burkhead and Stephen Burkhead of Neodesha, KS and Allison Hare of Fayetteville, NC.
She is preceded in death by her father, her mother, her step-father and one brother; Larry Goodknight.
