Mary Lee (Molly) Johnson was the first daughter of Captain Francis (Frank)Johnson, and his second wife, Anne Elizabeth (Nancy) Sutton Johnson. She was born in Mississippi, and lived most of her life on the Johnson Plantation in Sunflower County.

She was educated at the Ursline Convent, New Orleans, La., having traveled there by riverboat. This family story was confirmed by the convent in 2000.

Molly married John Sebry Burch of Chesterfield County, South Carolina, in December of 1869. The couple continued to live on her father's plantation in a separate dwelling, north of the "Old Johnson Cemetery", now known as Boyer Cemetery. The house was torn down around 1952 and the Johnson home was destroyed between 1980-90.

Her daughter, Bessie Burch was with Molly when she collapsed and died while in the families' garden on July 25, 1898.

Molly's husband, John, sold their portion of the Johnson Plantation, and with their children moved to Webster County, Ms. There he married Dora Starnes of Webster County.
