Charles was the son of Charles Spurgeon and Cordelia Elizabeth (Ashlock) Aiken.

After serving in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945, he moved to Midland, Texas where he was the owner and manager of a Baldridge Bakery franchise. He married in 1973 and moved his family to a new home near the Pedernales River where he spent much of his time fishing.

He was predeceased by his parents and an infant daughter. Also preceding him in death were two brothers; J.C. Aiken and Hubert Woodrow Aiken; and a sister, Mary Dimple Godwin.

Charles is survived by his wife of 34-years, a son, two daughters, one step-son, eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters.
