Nancy Kay Pyne Betterley, 47, West Fargo, ND, died on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at her home from kidney failure due to gestational diabetes.
Nancy Kay Pyne was born on January 24, 1962 in Minot, ND the second of three children (Betty Jean, Nancy Kay and Russell) to Leo Jerome Pyne and Laurel Ann Nelson. She grew up in Minot, ND and graduated from Minot High School, and then graduated from Minot State University through their Bottineau Campus with a degree in Medical Transcription.
On November 26, 1986 in Minot, ND Nancy married Dennis J. Betterley, son of Irene Phyllis Eckdahl and Alfred Hilton Betterley, Jr. They made their home in Washington and then Heidelberg, Germany where Dennis was stationed in the Army.
In 1990, they moved to Fargo for a short time before returning to Minot. In 1993, their daughter, Brittany Lynn was born in Minot. In 2004, they moved to West Fargo, ND where she worked at US Bank.
Nancy lived life to the fullest and was a loving and caring person. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, reading, gardening, fishing and most of all spending time with her family and attending church. Nancy also was an assistant leader for the Girl Scouts in Minot.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis and daughter, Brittany, West Fargo; her mother, Laurel Ann (Nelson) Pyne, Minot; sister, Betty Jean (Rob) Quitt, Schertz,Texas; brother, Russell (Cherylynn) Pyne, Minot; two nephews, Joshua & Brian; mother-in-law Irene Phyllis (Eckdahl) Betterley; five brother-in-laws, Jeff and family, Jon and family, Kenneth, Cliff and family, Jason and family; and three sisters-in-law, Phyllis and family, Jeanne and family, Sarah and family.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Leo Jerome Pyne; and father-in-law, Alfred Hilton Betterley, Jr.
Visitation: Friday, August 21, 2009 from 5 to 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7 PM at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo.
Memorial Service: Saturday at 1 PM in Faith Lutheran Church, West Fargo.
Final Resting Place: Rose Hill Cemetery, Minot, ND.
