Mary Helen Moody, known as Helen, was the youngest of five children born to Joshua Moody and Amy Kendall Bowley. Helen's first husband was Dr. Thomas J. Mills Bowden, who went by his middle name Mills. The had one child, a daughter named Amy. Dr. Bowden died of TB at the young age of 26. Helen then married Charles Frederick Beaven, a well-known carriage maker. Helen & Mills daughter Amy also succumbed to TB: She died in 1888 and is also buried in the Beaven family plot, along with her mother and stepfather.
