Son of Lemuel & Isadore (Davis) Barrett.

July 1912

Justus Lee Barrett, son of L. B. and Isadore Barrett of Jubilee, was born September 26, 1891; entered into rest July 15th, 1912, age 20 years, 9 months and 19 days.

His life was spent in and near their present home.

He was united with the Methodist Church at six years of age, and has been loyal to its requirements ever since.

He was of a cheerful disposition, always thoughtful of his invalid mother, never complaining of his own ill health. His sickness dates back further than his most intimate friends realize. His suffering was at times, intense, but he bore it with patience and without a murmur.

He leaves to mourn his early death his mother and father, his sister Claudia and his brother Roy, to whom he was a loving son and brother, and a large circle of relatives and friends.

The universal sorrow of the entire community goes out to the family in their extreme sorrow.

Justus was thoroughly loyal to his parents, kind hearted and unselfish, trustworthy and industrious. His integrity was unquestioned.

While sick he said he had always done what he thought was the right thing to do.

He was conscious most of the time to the very last, and talked continually of the joy that awaited him. He was ready and prepared to meet death. While on his bed he said, "I lay down this mortal earthly body and take up a new, where there shall be no more sickness, death or sorrow."

He asked that his relatives repent and live a good life. Then after, a moment's thought, he asked that all his dear friends (of whom there were many) repent and live a life that some day he could see them again.

Just before the last he sang. "The Harvest Time is Past" and "I'm Going Home to Heaven."

Then taking relatives and friend by hand, who were at his bedside, and bidding them all goodbye, and in a low voice requesting them to tell all his friends goodbye, his soul took its flight to realms more fair, where he found the joy he prayed to meet.
