Mary Allurh Babcock was born on Jun 2, 1920 in Perry, Wood County, Ohio. She was the only child born to Aletha Leona Crawford May 18, 1897 – Jan 22, 1921 and Amos Elmer Babcock Jun 22, 1895 – Jan 1, 1969.

A short time after Mary's' birth her mother passed away; from what I have been told; stemming from complications resulting from child birthing. At some point there after; for reasons unknown to me; Mary was placed in the child foster care program where she remained through out her childhood moving from time to time from one family to another. In 1987 she expressed to me that several were not of the best conditions.

Mary had little contact with the Crawford family in her early years, eventually losing all contact with them. In 1987; while in Ohio for the Crawford family reunion; by chance our paths crossed again leading to Mary's attendance to the reunion. Mary had never married and stated she had tried to locate family in the past with no success. She was living in Findlay in a Seniors Retirement apartment complex and was in reasonable heath with the usual aging ailments. From then on we all stayed in contact, I was living in California at the time but would visit her when I was there and with phone calls and letters. Mary would speak to me of some of her woes growing up and she still grew into a beautiful person. Her aunt Rilla at some point listed out all of our family, names and dates and gave it to Mary along with some family photos before losing contact in hopes to instill the Crawford memory. Prior to Mary's passing, she passed those on to me. Fortunately, Mary was able to spend her remaining years around her family.

Mary was curious about the Crawford family history and wanted to share what little she had or knew. Two of those photos were the photo of her mother and father and her mother sitting in the yard on a chair which I have added in these memorials in Mary Allurh Babcock's Honor to be freely shared with all others in the edification of the Crawford Family Name and Memory. Mary believed she did not have much to share and did not realize the true value of her priceless contribution in these and other family mementos.

Mary passed in Findlay, Ohio in 2004 with her remains being interned in Mount Zion Cemetery, Wayne, Wood, Ohio. She is now reunited resting along side of her mother Aletha Leona, her grandparents Alice Elizabeth Hall and Simpson Grant Crawford as well as two of her uncles, Vesta and Cloyde.
