FORESTDALE - Brian V. Aherne Jr., 38, of Forestdale, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 18, 2017 at UMASS Memorial Hospital in Worcester after a long and courageous battle with liver disease.
Brian Jr. was the first born child to loving parents Brian and Margaret Aherne and he became an amazing big brother to two siblings David and Kaitlin Aherne.
Brian attended Sandwich public schools and went to Upper Cape Tech where he met his lifelong best friend Allen Hill. He majored in Health Careers, a subject he was very passionate about and went on to become a CNA for many years until a back injury forced him to seek other work. He also worked at Roche Bros and Falmouth Town Taxi for many years.
He married his love Elizabeth Curtis Aherne and together they had a beautiful little girl, his pride and joy, Megan A. Aherne on October 25, 1999.
Brian Jr. is survived by his loving daughter Megan A. Aherne and her mother Elizabeth Aherne, his adoring parents Brian and Margaret Aherne, his younger siblings David and Kaitlin Aherne, his paternal uncle Daniel Aherne and his wife Anita and their children Amy, Stacey, and Kristen, of King of Prussia, PA.,his paternal aunt Rita Vamvakas and her husband John Espenheart and their children Laura and Louis of Cape Cod.
Other survivors include his maternal aunts Dorothy and Susan Himes of Queens, NY and his loving cousins Patrick, Michael and Andrew Himes, Linda Rarick, nephew Nathan Metcalf, and niece Rose Aherne, his best friend Allen Hill, his stepsons whom he loved like his own, Dylan Bazora, and Joshua and Christopher Morse, all of Booth Bay Harbor, ME. Brian was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Daniel and Rita Aherne and cousin Lesley Jason Lazar, his maternal grandparents James and Ellen Himes, his aunt Rose and uncle Bernard Himes.
Brian was a loving father, honorable son, an amazing big brother and friend. It was our pleasure to have spent his short 38 years on this earth with him.
Visiting hours will be from 11AM to 12:30PM on Saturday July 22, 2017 in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Road, Marstons Mills. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mosswood Cemetery.
