Eli Brown died very suddenly last Saturday night at the home of Henry Thornberry. Mr. Thornberry and wife had left their little children in the care of Mr. Brown while they went to sit up with the corpse of Mrs. Gamble a part of the night. They returned sometime during the night and found the children all asleep and Mr. Brown in his room, also asleep, as they supposed. The family called him for breakfast, but getting no response, they entered his room and found him dead. Mr. Brown was an old soldier. I have known him for fifty years, though never in his company very long at a time.
