Son of William Bassett 1726 – 1776 and Lydia Fisher 1730 – 1807 of Norton, Bristol, Massachusetts. He married
Sarah Briggs 1754 – 1789, daughter of Jabez Briggs (1723-1795) and Tabitha Babbitt Briggs. Jed and Sarah married in 1773 and together they had Sarah (1776-1848) Hannah (1778-1838) Lucinda (1779-) Melinda (1781-1816) Sinde (1782-) Simeon (1784-1784). He was a Revolutionary War Patriot along with his two brothers, Samuel and Massa. Jedidiah Bassett, Hardwick. Enlisted 4 May 1775, Rank: Private in Samuel Billings Co., Col Ebenezer Learned's Regt.
