He was previously married, at the time of his death, but was currently listed as divorced on his death certificate.
He passed away, sadly, at the young age of 40 on February 22, 1976 due to paraplegia with expected medical complications from compression of the spinal cord from a dislocation/fracture of the cervical vertebrae as a result of striking the bottom of the lake while diving at Lake Lavon on May 23, 1971.
