Obituary for Donna L. Blades
Donna L. (Overstreet) Blades entered her earthly life on October 12, 1953 born to R.F. and Ineta (Benge) Overstreet and on April 14, 2017 God called home his good and faithful servant at the age of 63.
Donna graduated from Wapanucka High School and later attended Murray State College in Tishomingo. Donna married the love of her life and best friend, Bobby Dale Blades on September 3, 1971 and they moved to Durant to begin their lives together raising their 3 children. Donna retired from Durant Public Schools where she cared for and touched many young children’s lives working in the cafeteria. Donna and her family were faithful and loyal members of Abundant Life Texoma Church in Durant (formerly Abundant Life Temple). After retirement, Donna enjoyed traveling with Bobby and working in her garden. But most of all she loved and treasured the time she spent with her family, especially her grandbabies.
Donna was preceded in death by her father, R.F. Overstreet; mother, Ineta Lansdale; infant brothers, Carl and Ordell Overstreet and brother, Ronnie Overstreet.
Donna is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 45 years, Bobby Blades of the home; children, Angela Knight and husband Cody of McAlester, OK, Erin Miller and husband Lonny of Durant, OK and Eric Blades and wife Savannah of Arcadia, OK; grandchildren, Emily Compton, Hattie Malicoat, Katelynn Knight, Kaylee Knight and Ryland Knight; sister, Janiece Vinson and husband Chet; brothers, Quinton Overstreet and wife Linda and Darryl Overstreet and wife Shannon and numerous extended family and dear friends.
Funeral services to celebrate Donnas’ life will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Rev. Randall Drake will officiate. Interment will follow in Condon Grove Cemetery with Jim Bob Brooks, Alex Overstreet, Jeffery Smith, Charlie Paul Martin, Clay Bolin and Gary Reeder serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Walker and Bill Lansdale. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM.
