Son of William Jackson Blackmon and Sarah Langley Blackmon of Harris County, Georgia. Jackson Blackmon was born about 1835 in either South Carolina or Georgia, and died 5 July 1864 in Salisbury, North Carolina, of disease during the War Between the States. (C.S.A.) Sarah Langley was born March 1838 in Tennessee and died in January 1903, probably in Harris County, Georgia. She was living in Blue Spring, Harris, Georgia, in 1900. She married Jackson Blackmon on 1 August 1860 in Harris County. They had two children: Joseph DeWitt Blackmon, whose nickname was "Pomp," and Ella C. Blackmon, who married John C. Harrington and is buried in Oakwood cemetery also. (Ella C. Harrington)
