Death Claims Woman Nearly 100 Years Old
Rebecca Jane Ellis was born October 8, 1839, in Ripley County, Olean, Indiana, and passed away August 1, 1937, at her home near Humboldt, Kansas, aged 97 years, nine months and 25 days.
Her parents were John and Sarah Ellis. The family moved to Mahomet, Champaign, Ill., in 1855 and her she united with the Methodist Episcopal church during her youth.
She was married to James Hamilton Wilson August 3, 1863, and came to the state of Kansas where she resided at the time of her death. One son preceded her in death. She leaves one son, S. E. Wilson and one daughter, Miss Frances Wilson of the home, besides numerous other relatives and friends to mourn her departure.
Funeral Services were conducted by Rev. J. C. Dussair Monday afternoon at the Lloyd Johnson Funeral Home and interment made in Mount Hope Cemetery by the side of her husband. (The Humboldt Union, Page 1, August 5, 1937)
