Denton was born the eighth of ten children to William Allan and Sarah Elizabeth Miller Berger.

November 18, 1908 he married Edith Catherine Oberholzer, in Hagerstown, MD, by Rev. C. K.Hartman. They parented twelve children, all living to adulthood.

He farmed until 1942 then went to work at Fairchild until retirement in 1957.

They lived most of their lives in the Marsh District of Antrim Township. Their home was then occupied by son Paul and his wife Gail.

Only their eldest daughter Edna predeceased him both. Surviving him were children Roy, Frances, Clinton 'Tab', Helen, Ralph, Anna, Edith, Alice, Beulah, Paul and William.

Denton had lung cancer but cause of death was a stroke.

His parents are buried in Green Hill Cemetery with a head stone labeled Burger, but along the family history they all changed their name spelling to Berger.
