Ruby F. Aebischer, age 89, of Chilton died on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Century Ridge in Chilton. She was born October 14, 1923 in Chilton, daughter of the late Clay & Dola (Lorenz) Koehler. She married Denton Aebischer on November 26, 1942 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ. Early in her life, Ruby worked for a year at Prange for 35 cents an hour while she attended business school. She later worked as a Nursing Assistant at her beloved Calumet Memorial Hospital from 1956 until 1993. She was an active member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School, served as president of the guild, chairman of the mission committee, and volunteered on the church council as both a deacon and an elder. Ruby was the first president of the Calumet Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was instrumental in the fund raising efforts to get the hospital built in Chilton. Ruby's dedication to her community extended beyond the walls of her church and hospital and reached into the lives of the children of the Chilton Public School district. She had served as the president of the PTA; she put her baking skills to good use making cookies, cakes, bars and candy for classroom parties and candy sales. In her free time, Ruby could be found tending her many beautiful flower beds, gardening, and traveling; She had proudly mentioned visiting many different countries and visiting all 50 states in the Union. Above all else, she was supremely devoted to her family. She loved each and every person and looked forward to visits from all those she loved. Survivors include her 5 daughters: Dyane (Dennis) Boese of Florida, Doris (Ian) Way of Florida, Debbie Schumacher of Neenah, Doreen (Rick) Daun of Florida, Dee (Dan) Chafin of Green Bay; 2 sons: Denton (Ruth) Aebischer of Chilton, David Aebischer of Chilton; 11 grandchildren: Kerry (Troy) Duchow, Dawn (Tim) Pfaff, Kelly (Dan) Weibel, Jenny Schumacher, Michael (Mindy) Schumacher, Rachael Schumacher, Jeff (Amy) Daun, Jamie (Jessica) Daun, Jordan Daun, Danielle Chafin, Denton Chafin; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother: Robert Koehler of Chilton; and a sister-in-law: Darlene Koehler of Chilton. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband: Denton. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Ebenezer United Church of Christ (44 W. Washington) in Chilton with the Rev. Kathy Rust and Rev. Becky Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday November 4, 2012 and on Monday at the church from 9:30 am until 10:45 am. Ruby's family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Randy, the staff at the Calumet Medical Center, and Century Ridge for their wonderful care during Ruby's stays. A memorial fund has been established in the name of Ruby F. Aebischer for Ebenezer United Church of Christ and the Calumet Medical Center. Death is Nothing At All - I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you, Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, Without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, Somewhere very near, Just around the corner. All is Well. “Henry Scott Holland
