Obituary - George William Banister was born at Alton, Illinois, December 20, 1854, and passed away at his home near Little River, Kansas, Sunday, February 12, 1922; aged 67 years, 1 month and 22 days. He was married to Lillie Mappin in 1876, and about three years later moved to Kansas, settling in Rice County. To this union was born four sons - George, Wallace, William, and Lewis, and five daughters - Cora and Etta, both of whom have gone before, and Mrs. D. A. Rife of Mitchell, Mrs. Carrie Hague of Haviland, and Mrs. Fred Fuller of Little River. After the death of his first wife, Mr. Banister was married to Mrs. Electa Ellen Perry, April 7, 1911, who so shortly ago preceded him in the great beyond. Mr. Banister was a faithful member of the Masonic, Odd Fellow, and Knights of Pythias Lodges of Little River. He was considered, by those who were well acquainted with him, to be an honest and conscientious man in his business relationships. He was a kind father and a considerate husband. The town and community join his children and all relatives in mourning his loss. Funeral services were conducted from the Methodist church in Little River, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. W. W. Owen. Victoria Lodge No 212, I.O.O.F., officiated at the church, and the burial service of Corner Stone Lodge, No. 219, AF&AM, was conducted at the grave. Interment in Bean Cemetery.
