HAMPT0N - Mark Alexander Hartmann, 35, went to be with the Lord in his sleep on November 20, 2003. Mark, a lifelong resident of the Peninsula was educated at St. Mary's Star of the Sea School, Peninsula Catholic High School and received his BA degree in Economics and Fine Arts from Christopher Newport College.

Mark was a loving and caring son, brother and uncle. He was active in the arts and loved to cook for family and friends. Mark was a carefree spirit, living life to its fullest. He enjoyed every person he met and loved to make people laugh. He loved his many wonderful friends; to name a few, Rachel, Marcus, Gabriel, Michael, Chris and Paul.

We love and miss you Mark, with all the joy and happiness you brought in to our lives. We will carry on by holding on to your spirit and all the wonderful memories you gave us.

Mark is survived by his parents Gunter and Juanita Hartmann both of Hampton; his brother, and best buddy, Terry and his fiance Melinda; his sister-in-law Gina Hartmann and nephew and "bestest friend" Zachery. Also surviving are his Oma and Aunt Lotte in Germany.

A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, November 25, 2003, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow privately at a later time.
