Paula Jean was born on July 6, 1931, in Omaha, Nebraska to Forrest and Rosemond King.

Paula graduated from Benson High School in Omaha, and furthered her education at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, and the University of Omaha.

She married Fritz Adams on Dec. 26, 1951. They lived on a dairy farm near Graettinger, Iowa, before purchasing their own dairy farm in 1956, near Syracuse, Neb. They were blessed with a daughter and two sons.

Paula and Fritz moved to North Platte, Neb., in 1966, and then to Alliance, Neb., in 1969. They moved to their retirement property near Custer, S.D., in 1991.

While living in Alliance, Paula founded Honey Bear Pre-School in the early 1970s, sold real estate and worked as a librarian's assistant in the Alliance Public Schools.

She and her husband enjoyed hiking, camping and canoeing. They were also volunteers for Meals on Wheels and numerous church events.

CUSTER, S.D. -Paula Jean (King) Adams, age 85, of Custer, S.D., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, at Oregon Manor in Oregon, Wis.

Left with memories are her husband; daughter, Nancy Adams of Madison, Wis.; sons, Rick (Lynda) of Omaha and Tom (Karen) Adams of New Castle, Del.; 10 grandchildren: Liz (Kevin) Horton of Culver City, Calif.; Katie Brew of Black River Falls, Wis.; Eric Adams of Portland, Ore.; Rachel Adams of Los Angeles, Calif.; Zachary Adams of Omaha, Neb.; Benjamin Adams of Omaha, Neb.; Greg Adams of Cincinnati, Ohio; Tony (Elizabeth) Adams of Granville, Ohio; Alex Adams of Lincoln, Neb., and Maggie Adams of Bowling Green, Ohio; one great-grandchild, Jack Adams of Granville; brother-in-law, Reed Belden of Lexington, Va.; and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Sue Belden; brother-in-law, Stoney Adams; and sister-in-law, Johnnie Adams.

A Celebration of Paula's Life will be held at Custer Lutheran Fellowship Church, US-16 Alt, Custer, SD, on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at 10 a.m. A luncheon will be served after the service. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or Custer Lutheran Fellowship Church. Private family interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha at a later date. Paula's family would like to thank the staff at the Oregon Manor, in Oregon, Wis., where she spent her final days. Their medical expertise, love and support was deeply appreciated.
