RICK CHMIDLING

Richard Leo "Rick" Chmidling, Jr., 52, passed away August 3, 2012, at Country Care living facility in Easton, KS after a courageous battle with cancer.

Rick was born October 9, 1959, in Winchester, KS to Richard and Doris (Wilcox) Chmidling who resided in Nortonville at the time. They moved to Leavenworth in 1966. Rick attended Easton High School and was in the Pleasant Ridge High School graduating class of 1977. He began his career in construction working for his father, Richard. He would later work for American Roofing as well as being self-employed.

Rick was a devoted son, loving brother, and loyal friend. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed playing pool, cards, trap shooting, being outdoors, and working with his hands.
He enjoyed being around children and loved his nieces and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his dad Richard L. Chmidling, Sr., his mother Doris May (Wilcox) Harvey, and a brother, Thomas John Chmidling. He is survived by his stepmother, Eileen Chmidling, three brothers, Tim, Robert (Marcelle), and Ed (Traci), two sisters, Debbie Chmidling and Darlene Dean, all of Leavenworth, one stepbrother, Terry Booker, Leavenworth, two stepsisters, Michelle Booker, Leavenworth, and Kathi Booker, Lansing, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

He will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery in Nortonville, KS at 10:00 AM, August 11, 2012.
Memorials can be made to Odyssey Hospice of Overland Park KS or Country Care, Inc of Easton, KS and may be left in the care of the O'Trimble Funeral Home.
