Nina was born in Ionia Michigan - the 5th of 18 children.
She moved with her family to Oregon where she went to school and helped raise her brothers and sisters. She became a Mother's Helper for the Gillam family in Portland and met and married Lloyd Valentine on March 20, 1938. They had 3 daughters. Juanita Marie (by Lloyd's first marriage), Dolores Nina and Kathleen Rose.

She had a very strong faith and lived it through her service to her church - Emmanuel Lutheran (formerly Manette Lutheran). She taught Sunday school and in her later years after Lloyd's death stayed involved in the church through the Quilting group.

When the girls were in school full time she got a job working for Safeway in Manette as a meat wrapper. She left that job after 10 years and traveled with Lloyd and then they settled in Mesa Arizona in the winters.

Her family was very important to her and she loved each grandchild as they were added to the family. Later she enjoyed even more the great grandchildren as they arrived.

She taught her girls how to cook and have the values that she felt strongly about. She is missed by her family.
