LAMAR-Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Knell Mortuary Chapel in Carthage for Marlene Patricia Dodson, 75, Lamar, who died Monday, June 10, 2013, at Mercy St. John's Medical Center in Joplin. Rev. Barry Winders will officiate. Burial will be in Dudman Cemetery, southeast of Carthage.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Carthage Shrine Train Crew.

Survivors include her husband, Virgil Dodson, of the home; two daughters, Connie Earl and husband Shawn, Kansas City, Mo. and Cathy McCulley and husband Mickel, Aurora; two sons, Virgil Dodson, Jr., Lamar, and Bill Dodson and wife Alicia, Lamar; a sister, Loree Peterson, Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Gary Peterson and wife Karen, Fall City, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dodson was born May 14, 1938, in San Pedro, Calif., to Marvin and Lillian Peterson. She attended school in Imbler, Ore. and married Virgil Kenneth Dodson on Nov. 6, 1954, in Baker, Ore. She and her husband moved to Carthage in 1958 and then to Lamar in 1960. She was a member of the Lamar Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, Ladies Shrine in Carthage and Springfield and Abou Ben Adhem, Springfield.
