He was born in Goffs in Ritchie County, on Dec. 31, 1931, a son of the late Robert and May Hornbeck Ayers. He retired with more than 25 years of service from Ford Motor Co. in Lorain, Ohio.
Survivors include one sister, Kathrin Wigal of Tuppers Plains; one brother, Dale Ayers of Harrisville; one niece, Helen Wolfe of Zanesville; and one nephew, Orval Ayers of Parkersburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maybelle Trudy Starcher Ayers; one brother, Claude Ayers; and one sister, Jennie Marie Ayers.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, the Rev. George Horner officiating. Burial in IOOF Cemetery, Cairo. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday.
