Dempsey Robert “Rob” Bishop, age 87, of Falmouth, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on October 2, 1921, in Pendleton County, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Richard and Elizabeth Jenkins Bishop. He was the last surviving child in his family. On March 12, 1949, he married Rosemary Varner Bishop, and his dear wife preceded him in death on June 8, 1984. He was a farmer, and he faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by: three sons, Ernest Richard (Joyce) Bishop, Robert Allen Bishop and Stephen (Cathy) Bishop, all of Falmouth; and four daughters, Emma (Larry) English, Mary Alice (Steve) Buckley, Susan Miller and Bernice (Greg) Camidge, all of Falmouth; 17 grandchildren, Ricky Bishop, Stevie Bishop, Jr., Shawn Bishop, Chad Camidge, Steven Buckley, Josh Miller, Shelly Harden, Angie Stewart, Amanda Johnson, Stephanie Pike, Ashley Spicer, Nancy Bishop, Brenda Baker, Chastity Camidge, Chase Camidge, Jason Work and Josh Work; and 19 great-grandchildren, Douglas Baker, Joseph Baker, Jocelyn Bishop, Jada Acuff, Johnny Acuff, Tucker Cox, Hunter Work, Layton Camidge, Kristen Stewart, Kodie Stewart, Lane Pike, Lilly Anna Miller, Richard Harden, Tiffany Harden, Marissa Bishop, Zach Bishop, Tristen Bishop, Austin Bishop, and Alex Bishop.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 9, at Woodhead Funeral Home, in Falmouth, with Bro. Mike Flynn officiating. The visitation will be on Sunday, February 8, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ricky Bishop, Stevie Bishop, Jr., Shawn Bishop, Chad Camidge, Steven Buckley, Josh Miller, Chase Camidge, and Jason Work. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandsons, Douglas Baker, Joseph Baker, Johnny Acuff, Tucker Cox, Hunter Work, Layton Camidge, Lane Pike, Richard Harden, Zach Bishop, Austin Bishop,Kodie Stewart and Alex Bishop. Interment, with full military honors by the Hardin-Browning Post #109, will take place at Oakland Cemetery, in Pendleton County. Memorials in memory of Dempsey Robert “Rob” Bishop are suggested to Woodhead Funeral Home, 310 W. Shelby Street, Falmouth, Kentucky 41040.
